Voters in the city of Kyle approved a bond for eight transportation projects totaling 10.3 miles of new roadways, street reconstructions and widenings in November 2022. The projects have seen substantial progress and will hit crucial milestones throughout 2026.
The gist
All eight of the projects included in the 2022 Kyle Road Bond are in the design, bid or construction phase, or have been completed, according to agenda documents. The Marketplace Avenue project was completed in July 2025 and is open to traffic.
In the third quarter of 2026, the Bebee Road East additions are expected to reach their final design. The Bunton Creek Road project, Old Stagecoach Road North improvements and Kyle Parkway/Lehman Road extension will go to bid, and construction will begin on the Old Stagecoach Road project, according to agenda documents.
In the fourth quarter of 2026, the Center Street expansion will reach its final design, and construction will begin on the Bunton Creek Road project, Old Stagecoach Road North improvements and Kyle Parkway/Lehman Road extension.
The Kohlers to Seton overpass connection and Kohlers to Seton extension were approved as a singular project, but the city divided them to develop them individually. Kyle staff did the same with the Bebee Road East additions and Bebee Road West realignment.
Upcoming projects
Bebee Road East additions
Project: The project adds approximately 2.1 miles of four-lane roadway and three roundabouts for the eastern portion.
Update: The project’s final design is anticipated to be completed by fall 2026, with an estimated bid date in fall 2027.

Kohlers to Seton overpass connection
Project: The project adds an overpass to create space for a Kohlers Crossing connection.
Update: The project is estimated to go to bid in fall 2027.

Center Street East expansion
Project: The existing two-lane section will be widened to three lanes with a dedicated center turn lane between Veterans Drive and Main Street.
Update: The project’s design is 60% complete, and the bid phase is expected to begin in early 2027.

Old Stagecoach Road/North widening and Center Street West expansion
Project: The Old Stagecoach Road widening will widen the roadway and incorporate pedestrian crosswalks between Veterans Drive and Center Street. The Center Street West expansion will widen parts of the road, add curbs and gutters, add lighting and add sidewalks to both sides of the road, including one shared-use path, between Old Stagecoach Road and Veterans Drive. A new single-lane roundabout will also be installed.
Update: The Old Stagecoach Road widening’s final design was completed in June 2026, and the bid phase began the same month. Construction on the Center Street West expansion was cleared to begin in June 2026.

Bunton Creek Road
Project: This project will improve and expand the roadway from Lehman Road to Porter Cove, including intersection improvements and widened travel lanes. Crews will add sidewalks and shared-use paths and reconstruct the intersection of Bunton Creek Road and South Goforth Road.
Update: The project’s final design is anticipated to be completed in fall 2026 and enter the bid phase at the same time.

Kyle Parkway/Lehman Road extension
Project: The project will extend Lehman Road northeast from Bunton Creek Road to Dacy Lane as a four-lane street and extend Kyle Parkway to connect with the new segment.
Update: The project’s final design is anticipated to be completed in fall 2026 and enter the bid phase at the same time.

Bebee Road West realignment
Project: The project realigns sharp curves and adds capacity to a 1-mile stretch, with a new roundabout for the western portion.
Update: The project is currently under construction with an estimated completion date in summer 2027.

Kohlers to Seton extension
Project: Extends the road from the I-35 northbound frontage road to Seton Parkway.

Windy Hill Road improvements
Project: The project expands the roadway to four lanes, improves intersections, extends a low-water crossing culvert and adds modern drainage facilities.
Update: A construction contract for the project was awarded to Smith Contracting Co. Inc. on Feb. 17. The project is currently under construction with an estimated completion date in summer 2027.
