Texas State University representatives, San Marcos residents and stamp collectors gathered June 1 at the downtown San Marcos post office for the unveiling of the new 1 cent bobcat stamp.
The official First-Day-of-Issue dedication ceremony was a first for the post office, and officials said it was a proud moment for Texas State.
"On behalf of the faculty, staff, students and 140,000 bobcat alumni, we are honored to have a stamp with a bobcat on it," said Barbara Breier, vice president for university advancement at Texas State.
City Councilwoman Kim Porterfield and Boko, Texas State's mascot, were also on hand for the stamp's unveiling.
