On June 4, San Marcos City Manager Jim Nuse said he will resign at the end of the city's fiscal year, Sept. 30.
After 30 years in city government, Nuse said he is ready for a job that allows him to spend more time with his wife, grandchildren and hobbies such as playing music and writing songs.
"There are a lot of business opportunities, so I don't think I'll ever want for something to keep me gainfully employed, but I really do want to control my time a little more than I have in recent years," he said. "The past 10 to 15 years have been pretty busy."
Nuse has been San Marcos' city manager since December 2010. Before that, he worked for the City of Round Rock for 27 years, the last eight of them as city manager.
