Kyle I-35 access roads switching to one-way traffic

"With two-way traffic, we've had some very serious accidents and a couple of fatalities," he said. "The safety far outweighs any inconvenience it may cause for a while."

The change does not immediately affect the access roads from Center Street to Yarrington Road, which will continue to allow two-way traffic for the next two to four months, Jones said. However, those roads will be converted to one-way traffic after the East FM 150 extension is completed, he added.

Jones said work is also progressing on another project that will ease I-35 congestion. Design work is about 90 percent complete on the installation of turnaround lanes on the overpasses from Center Street in Kyle to FM 2001 in Buda.

"Hopefully we'll have those to TxDOT for approval by the end of April and maybe start construction three months after that," he said.
