Buda Mayor Sarah Mangham submitted her resignation to City Manager Kenneth Williams and City Secretary Danny Batts on Oct. 23, citing her personal health as the cause.
"This is based on decisions after some medical tests that I had last week," Mangham said. "This was not something that was being considered."
Mangham was elected in 2011 when she beat incumbent mayor and current council member Bobby Lane by eight votes.
"I didn't want to be an absentee mayor, and I felt that the best thing for Buda was to go ahead and resign so I can focus on my health and so that we can get a full-time mayor in that will not be pulled the way I'm going to be pulled," Mangham said.
