May 22-26 is Flood Awareness Week
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has declared May 22-26 as Flood Awareness Week in Texas. This week also marks the two-year anniversary of the 2015 Memorial Day weekend flood, which caused extensive damage to areas near the Blanco and San Marcos rivers throughout Hays County.
San Marcos hosts a public meeting on street overlay projects tonight
The city’s public services department will host a neighborhood meeting from 6-7:30 p.m. to discuss planned street overlay projects in the Southwest Hills neighborhood and on Robbie Lane, Broadway Street and Feltner Alley. The work will take place this summer and will be funded with $1.6 million from the city’s street maintenance program. The overlay program seals and repairs roadways to extend their lifespan by five-10 years, according to a city news release. Hays County Commissioners Court does not meet Tuesday
The court’s next meeting will take place May 30 at the Hays County Courthouse, 111 E. San Antonio St., San Marcos, at 9 a.m.
The Buda Planning and Zoning Commission meets Tuesday at 7 p.m.
The commission will discuss a replat of 1.49 acres near Robert S. Light Boulevard and South FM 967. The replat would split one lot into two separate lots. The commission will also receive a presentation on the fiscal year 2018 Capital Improvements Plan.
