Jeff Harper plans to open Figaro’s Pizza & Pub at 243 Wonder World Drive, San Marcos, by August, he said. The family-owned restaurant will serve pizzas, burgers, pastas, salads and appetizers. Figaro’s will also feature a bar with 24 beers on tap, Harper said. “It’s going to be gourmet pizza with fresh, high-quality ingredients,” Harper said. “That’s really the theme. That’s something people are interested in these days—making sure they’re getting the highest quality and freshest ingredients. That’s what we’re striving for.” The restaurant will feature a large patio as well. Figaro’s is an Oregon-based restaurant chain, but Harper said he is working to make the San Marcos location unique. “I’m going to try to work in as many things as I can to give it that more local, San Marcos feel,” Harper said. “Whether that’s some of the items on the menu or décor, we’re going to have a San Marcos vibe to us.” www.facebook.com/figarossanmarcos Other Impacts

Hooter’s will open a new restaurant in San Marcos at 915 Luciano Flores St. by September, a company representative said. Pollo Tropical, 1439 N. I-35, San Marcos, is planned to open in September. The restaurant serves citrus-marinated, flame-grilled chicken, with various sauces and sides. The restaurant, located at the corner of I-35 and Aquarena Springs near a new In-N-Out Burger also sells sandwiches, soups, salads and desserts.
