Murpho's Rods and Customs in Buda takes automotive restorations to a new level

Some of the future show cars at Murpho's include a custom Lincoln Continental, a Plymouth Roadrunner and several classics from the 1940s in various stages of customization.

To Murphy, the cars parked in his shop—some a century old, deconstructed or rusted—represent the pinnacle of vehicular design.

"There's so much more to be said for cars of yesteryear when they're all trying to actually be different," Murphy said. "Each manufacturer, each car they were doing is very unique."

That statement is doubly true once the cars roll out of Murpho's garage.

Murphy said his team of craftsmen have the skill and tools to bring just about any vision to life. Whether that vision involves a showroom quality paint job, engine swap or custom suspension is up to the client.

"I have some guys that are just so so talented," he said. "Our cars go out into the world, and they make a statement without having to be driven by ego."

Murpho's also provides restorations, rust repair and numerous other services.

In addition to customization, Murph's services any vehicles built before 1972. However, the spirit of shop is focused on building something special with each project.

"There's a point where you kind of—to me—get the sense that the cars have their own kind of rebirth, like they have a soul again," Murpho said.
