The San Marcos Activity Center will reopen May 2 after being closed since late October due to water damage from a pipe failure, causing several inches of water to cover the facility.
New carpet and other flooring, sheetrock and doors were installed throughout the facility, located at 501 E. Hopkins St., according to a press release.
The city paid out an insurance deductible of $2,500 of what amounted to a total of $2.5 million in repairs for the project. The Texas Municipal League Intergovernmental Risk Pool is in the process of assessing the cause of the pipe failure.
