Kyle moves forward with 99-acre mixed-use project

The agenda states that the developer will donate three acres to the city of Kyle for the construction of a municipal facility or for use as parkland or open space.

According to city documents, the developer has agreed to utilize the One Water approach, which involves integrating stormwater, wastewater, drinking water and other water sources in one system.

The project will utilize One Water techniques by:

• Using native, drought-tolerant landscaping
• Using alternative ground covers
• Using a design that collects water from the site into a regional detention pond
• Reusing water in the pond for on-site irrigation

The council voted to pass the item with an amendment added by Mayor Travis Mitchell, which states that 20% of the project would have townhomes.
