In a special meeting Aug. 25, Kyle City Council approved the $212.6 million budget for the 2022-23 fiscal year. The new budget also comes with the same tax rate set in the 2021-22 fiscal year at $0.5082 per $100 of assessed property value.
The breakdown of property taxes on residents living in Kyle is as follows:
- Hays CISD: 53%
- city of Kyle: 20%
- Hays County: 15%
- Austin Community College: 4%
- other: 8%
According to the budget proposal, the city will earn around $16 million in property taxes alone, $2 million more than the previous fiscal year. The budget also includes around $15.8 million in sales tax revenue.
The general fund expenditures total to around $60.1 million with the biggest portion, 25%, going toward the police department.
