Hays County Sheriff Gary Cutler and Chief Deputy Mike Davenport are retiring, according to a Dec. 18 news release.
Career history
Cutler was elected and sworn into office in November 2010, but began his career in law enforcement at the Travis County Sheriff’s Office in 1974 where he held various roles including jailer, fugitive warrant/mental health deputy and criminal investigation detective, according to the news release.
In 2001, Cutler joined the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, where he served as a sergeant in the Major Crimes Division before being promoted to lieutenant where he managed crime scene investigations. Cutler continued his career as an investigator with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission from 2004 up until being elected in Hays County, the news release states.
