Saul Gonzales, San Marcos City Council Place 2 candidate, leads Lisa Marie Coppoletta and Shane Scott in political donations so far this election season, according to the latest round of campaign finance reports due to election officials Tuesday.
Every opposed candidate in the Nov. 8 election must file a contributions and expenditures report 30 days before the election. This latest round of reports, the first mandated disclosure since this summer, covers all financials from July 1 to Sept. 29, according to the Texas Ethics Commission.
Here is how much donation money each candidate has earned and spent for the Place 2 race during that timeframe:
Gonzales: $6982.32 contributions, $4,287.03 expenditures Contributions to Gonzales' campaign included $50 from Planning & Zoning Commissioner Betsey Gail Rand, who also acts as campaign treasurer for Place 1 incumbent Lisa Prewitt; $250 from former San Marcos Mayor David Chiu; and $100 from former San Marcos CISD trustee John Crowley. In total, Gonzales received 16 monetary contributions during the reporting period.
