Salary increases are coming to Hays CISD employees with the goal of staying competitive with neighboring districts and retaining staff.
The increases are part of the 2020-21 budget approved at the June 22 board of trustees meeting.
The measure to give 2% midpoint raises means teachers who started in 2019-20 will make $48,142 with a bachelor’s degree, while a teacher with 10 years of experience and a bachelor’s degree will make $55,494. Midpoint means 2% comes at 20 years of experience, and that dollar amount is applied for all experience and education levels for teachers. It is an increase of $1,204 for teachers.
“I remember sitting in the audience a few years back ... we were at the bottom,” board trustee Will McManus said. “I’m glad to see where we are at.”
