A locally-owned coffee and pastry shop provides customers in San Marcos with hand-crafted drinks made from scratch.
The gist
Sucre Cafe and Go is a new coffee spot offering handcrafted drinks, homemade sauces and pastries. The store is owned and operated by Vanessa Martinez and is the sister company of Di Sucre by V, a local cake shop.
“I have a lot of passion for the kitchen,” Martinez said. “That's where I develop all of my recipes, also for my coffees. Everything came from my grandma and my mom, so they teach me and guide me through the whole process.”
Vanessa started her cake business in 2016 and opened Di Sucre by V almost five years ago, she said.
“A lot of customers know me for cakes and I do a lot of the events,” Martinez said. “I wanted to expand and give people the opportunity to try pastries and cakes.”
What they offer
Sucre Cafe and Go offers a variety of coffee and pastry options for customers, including those that are vegan or have dietary restrictions, Martinez said.
“Usually, when you go to a coffee shop, most of the coffees are just pure milk and sugar, and you barely taste the coffee flavor,” Martinez said. “With us, it's the opposite. You can taste the coffee, and it has the right balance of sugar.”
The coffee and pastry shop is currently offering viral TikTok pastries made to look like realistic fruits. The eatery’s daily menu can be found on its website.
“For me, it's not just making money,” Martinez said. “We're selling an experience, and we want people to be able to enjoy it.”
