A new family-owned restaurant, Treze, has opened in Buda at 318 N. Main St., serving up sandwiches, soups and other made-to-order items.
The background
The restaurant is the realization of a decades-long dream for the Najar family and is led by chef Joaquin Najar, his wife, Xochi Raquel, and their sons, Diego, Joel, and Leonardo. The idea to open a restaurant began in 1990, became a concrete plan for the family in 2013 and became a reality when it opened on Aug. 26.
"Treze is more than a restaurant to us—it's a dream nearly 40 years in the making," Joaquin Najar, chef and owner of Treze, said in a news release. "We built this place as a family, for families, and we can't wait to welcome our neighbors and share good food with everyone in Buda."
How we got here
In 2018, the Najar family purchased the property next to the Carrington House. The City of Buda and the Buda EDC provided construction and operating incentives and a sales tax rebate to support the new restaurant building, according to the news release.
