Kyle City Council approves $1M contract for skate park at Gregg-Clarke Park

"We want youth and affected community members to truly feel they are a part of the product solution and build lasting ownership in the final product," according to the presentation.

Through the collaborative process, the firms will be able to address issues that regularly arise, such as accessibility, lighting, parking and more. The firms will utilize geotechnical engineer—as each park is unique and concrete skate parks in Texas can pose certain developmental challenges—all with the goal to create a sustainable and solid park.

The funding comes from the 2020 bond for park improvements, which include the skate park, Parks and Recreation Director Mariana Espinoza said. The city has also entered into an interlocal agreement with Hays County; the county will match the bond funds for park improvements.

"We are excited to bring yet another park improvement project for Gregg-Clarke Park," Espinoza said. "We are looking at an approximately seven-month time frame for design and construction."
