The annual Pie in the Sky event returned Sept. 3 at Gregg-Clark Park, 1231 W. Center St., Kyle, following a two-year hiatus as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent case surges.

The event featured live music from Broken Arrow, Jukebox Preachers, LC Rocks, Kyle Park and JR Gomez y Loc Conjuntos Bandits across two stages.

There were also local vendors throughout the park selling food, drinks, clothing, plants and more.

Among other activities was the pie toss, pie baking contest, Pi recital contest and pie eating contest with around a dozen contestants.

However, the signature hot air balloons were nowhere to be seen. Due to high winds, rain and lightning, the tethered hot air balloon rides were canceled.

The festival will return to Lake Kyle in 2023.
