Hays County to offer two free COVID-19 testing sites May 10

Two free COVID-19 testing sites will be available in Hays County starting May 10.

The locations come through a partnership with the Texas Department of Health and Human Services along with the Texas Army National Guard.

One of the testing locations will be in Wimberley, and the other will be in Dripping Springs. The specifics of the testing locations will be shared with those who register, go through a health screening and receive an appointment, according to a press release by the county.

Information about where to register will be released 8 a.m. May 9 via the official county website as well as Facebook and Twitter. The county will provide a phone number and a website where individuals who are interested can register.

Preregistration will start May 9, at which time individuals will go through a health screening, according to Hays County Epidemiologist Eric Schneider.

“The health screening will check for symptoms, including fever/chills, cough, fatigue, shortness of breath, sore throat, headaches, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting and nasal congestion,” Schneider said. He also clarified that the testing sites are not for general public, and individuals must have an appointment.

Testing at both sites will be conducted by the Texas Army National Guard and will take place from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
