Buda residents will soon have their first Wendy’s drive-thru as a dining option.
Buda City Council unanimously approved a Specific Use Permit for a Wendy’s drive-thru restaurant near the intersection of East Main Street and the I-35 frontage road on Jan. 7.
What you need to know
The proposed site plan includes a 2,236-square-foot building with 21 parking spaces and a wrap-around drive-thru lane that would accommodate at least 11 vehicles.
The western existing 100-foot driveway will be reduced by 70 feet to meet Unified Development Code requirements with a sidewalk built along Main Street, according to agenda documents.
The approximately 1.599-acre site currently holds an oil change business and a car wash. According to the agenda item, though the oil change business will be brought up to UDC compliance, the car wash will be demolished and replaced with the new development.
Changes to the oil change business include moving parking to the building’s back with eight additional parking spaces, installing a new and relocated dumpster enclosure, adding internal parking lot landscaping, and upgrading parking lot lighting.
The Wendy’s development also includes drainage improvements, including reducing impervious cover by 1.3%, since the existing drainage causes a build-up of water runoff.
