A new plant shop called Headwaters Plant Boutique will be opening inside Harpers Store in downtown Martindale this summer.
Headwaters Plant Boutique is locally owned by Jessie Pagan and Rhiannon Metcalf. The duo started their business endeavor by doing pop-ups at local farmer’s markets and bars like Zelicks Icehouse.
Pagan said it was a “shot in the dark,” at first, but people seemed “really receptive” to Headwaters Plant Boutique.
“We started growing like crazy,” Pagan said.
Headwaters Plant Boutique will sell house plants, cacti and succulents. The plant boutique will also offer home goods such as plant holders and art prints.
The duo also hopes to offer plant rentals for weddings and events along with workshops.
Pagan said they plan on holding a soft opening on June 15 and a grand opening party on September 28. The grand opening event will feature live music, food trucks and vendors.
