Kyle approves permits for construction of Valvoline facility and a new day care

The Kyle Planning and Zoning Commission approved two conditional-use permits Jan. 10 for the construction of two new businesses in Kyle.

The first permit was issued for the construction of a day care and preschool to be located at 1190 Veterans Drive, Kyle. The new build will be 11,314 square feet and is dubbed Children’s Lighthouse in agenda documents, as it will feature a lighthouse.

There are no zoning changes required for the construction of Children’s Lighthouse.

The second permit issued is for the construction of a Valvoline Instant Oil Change that will be located at 5100 S. FM 1626, Kyle. The new build is estimated to be 3,763 square feet.

There is already a development agreement in place for the new facility; the permit is to ensure the new building complies with standards outlined in the agreement, according to City Planner Kaela Sharp.

Valvoline will offer vehicle maintenance and other services, including battery and air filter replacement, according to agenda documents. Valvoline will not offer any type of body work on cars.
