Independent bookstore Em Dash Books closed the doors to its downtown brick-and-mortar location in Buda on June 11.
The indie bookstore—owned by Lola Watson—plans to open a popup bookstore experience at The Carrington located at 300 N. Main St. starting June 26. The business will still be hosting book clubs, story times and other events, according to an Instagram post.
"To insure the long-term sustainability of the bookstore we have to move out... So we made the difficult decision to move out rather than pay our staff late," the post stated.
Em Dash Books opened in September of 2023 and sold books, stickers, bookmarks, graphic novels and more.
