TxDOT announces I-35 Northeast Expansion project closures for Jan. 17-20 weekend

The Texas Department of Transportation announced highway closures over the Jan. 17-20 holiday weekend as part of its I-35 Northeast Expansion project.

What you need to know

According to a news release, TxDOT will close the southbound I-35 collector ramp to Loop 1604 main lanes and the southbound I-35 exit to Pat Booker Road for drainage work from 9 p.m. Jan. 17-5 a.m. Jan. 20.​​​

To travel onto Loop 1604 westbound, drivers on southbound I-35 should exit Retama Parkway and proceed on southbound I-35 frontage road through the Forum Parkway intersection. After the intersection, continue on southbound I-35 frontage road to the westbound Loop 1604 frontage road. Head west through the Lookout Road intersection and use the next entrance ramp to enter westbound Loop 1604.​

To access Pat Booker Road, drivers on southbound I-35 main lanes should exit Judson Road and proceed to the Judson Road intersection. Then turn left to the northbound I-35 frontage road. At the next traffic light turn left to access the northbound I-35 frontage road, and continue north through the Toepperwein Road intersection and follow the signs to Pat Booker Road.

Drivers looking to access eastbound Loop 1604 should head east on Pat Booker Road until reaching Loop 1604 intersection. Turn right to access the eastbound Loop 1604 frontage road and use the next entrance ramp to enter eastbound Loop 1604.
