Schertz City Council holds first reading to improve Cibolo Valley Drive medians

During a May 10 City Council meeting, the city of Schertz held a first reading for a budget adjustment to landscape medians on Cibolo Valley Drive.

This item came from an agreement between Schertz and Cibolo to construct a new half-mile segment of Cibolo Valley Drive between I-35 and Old Wiederstein Road.

The project widened the road section from two lanes to four and added turn lanes and two medians that are empty with a road base.

As part of the landscaping plan, the medians will include low-water plants, a drip irrigation system and decorative rocks.

According to Assistant City Manager Brian James, median work and traffic control will cost the city $88,172.99, which will be funded with road impact fees collected for Zone 1.

Once median work begins, traffic will be limited to one lane on each side of the road. The project is estimated to take 12 days to complete barring any weather delays. A start date has not been set.
