Portion of I-10 and Loop 1604 junction to close May 31-June 3

Work crews handling the ongoing Loop 1604 expansion project in North San Antonio are scheduling another major closure affecting the Loop 1604 and I-10 intersection.

In a nutshell

According to a Texas Department of Transportation news release, the following segments of the I-10 and Loop 1604 interchange will be fully closed from 9 p.m. May 31 through 5 a.m. June 3:

• I-10 eastbound main lanes at the Loop 1604 interchange
• I-10 westbound main lanes—left lane only—at the Loop 1604 interchange
• I-10 eastbound to the eastbound Loop 1604 cloverleaf
• Westbound Loop 1604 to the eastbound I-10 cloverleaf

TxDOT officials said these closures will allow project contractors to build bridges and supports for the planned new direct interchange.

According to TxDOT representatives on May 28, construction on the new I-10 and Loop 1604 interchange is 50% complete, with work crews set to open the first new flyover ramp later this year.

TxDOT representatives also said multiple nightly closures remain in effect across the Loop 1604 work zone between Bandera Road/SH 16 and Redland Road.
