New closures set for Loop 1604 project in North San Antonio

There will be two new major work-related closures on Loop 1604 in North San Antonio, with one closure affecting the I-10 interchange from May 10-12 and another impacting Loop 1604 east of US 281.

Current situation

Texas Department of Transportation officials said the following portions of the I-10/Loop 1604 interchange will be entirely closed to traffic from 9 p.m. May 10 through 7 a.m. May 12:

• Loop 1604 eastbound main lanes and frontage road at I-10
• I-10 westbound and eastbound main lanes at Loop 1604
• All four cloverleafs at Loop 1604 and I-10

TxDOT representatives said this closure at I-10 and Loop 1604 will allow continued bridge construction as part of an overhaul of the existing cloverleaf interchange.

Project contractors are also closing the following freeway portions daily from 9 p.m.-5 a.m. now through May 21:

• Eastbound Loop 1604 main lanes from US 281 to the Bulverde Road entrance ramp
• US 281 southbound and northbound to the Loop 1604 eastbound flyover ramp

TxDOT representatives said this nightly closure will allow for repavement of this specific segment of roadway.
