Master architect, marketing teams tapped for San Antonio International Airport project

“We’re happy to work with Corgan and Lake|Flato as they honor and elevate the local character of our San Antonio community,” Airports Director Jesus Saenz said in a statement.

Lake|Flato is known for its architectural design of San Antonio’s downtown federal courthouse, Trinity University’s Dickie Hall, the Witte Museum expansion and The Pearl, among dozens of other projects throughout Texas and the United States.

Corgan, which is currently completing advanced planning for the San Antonio airport’s TDP, will also provide design services for enabling projects, which include but are not limited to a new ground transportation center and parking garage, terminal support facilities, public safety building, centralized concessions receiving and distribution facility, and terminal roadway realignment, according to the city.

“I’m looking forward to continuing to work closely with both nationally recognized firms to make the new terminal complex a place to be proud of,” Airport System Deputy Director Tim O’Krongley said in a statement. “They will incorporate our vibrant, unique and welcoming San Antonio culture into the design and construction of the new facilities through the application of the design standard manual and the city’s public art program.”

City Council also approved a contract for local agency KGBTexas Communications to provide advertising and marketing services for the San Antonio Airport System.

The scope of services for the contract includes promoting air service, concessions, customer experience enhancements and branding initiatives for SAT and a public awareness campaign for the TDP at the airport, local officials said.

“We are pleased to continue working with KGBTexas to communicate the benefits of traveling from or to San Antonio International Airport and Stinson Municipal Airport, our continued elevation to customer experience including more dining, retail and parking options, as well as the significant opportunities presented by the TDP,” Saenz said in a statement. “KGBTexas has the experience and the local knowledge to keep us on the positive trajectory the airport has established.”

KGBTexas founder and CEO Katie Harvey said having a world-class airport is vital to San Antonio’s economic growth and ability to attract and retain business and talent development.

“We are enthusiastic to be partners with the airport team and the city on this incredibly important effort,” Harvey said in a statement.
