Long-term transportation projects continue to push forward in Schertz and Cibolo. Check out the latest on these three projects.
FM 1518
Project: The reconstruction of 5.6 miles of FM 1518 by widening the existing roadway and making two 11-foot lanes in each direction, alongside a 34-foot-wide raised center median, a 10-foot-wide shared-use path on the east side of the roadway and a 6-foot-wide sidewalk along the west side of the roadway.
Update: In 2026, the Texas Department of Transportation is looking to complete storm sewer upgrades and shared-use path addition on the east side of FM 1518, south of Lisa Meadows; intersection improvements at Lower Seguin Road, Ray Corbett Drive and Schaefer Road; Schertz waterline and sewer line upgrades; and future southbound FM 1518 lanes

FM 1103
Project: TxDOT is improving FM 1103 from I-35 to Rodeo Way in Comal and Guadalupe counties in order to increase mobility, enhance safety and reduce congestion. The project will expand the road from two to four lanes, adding sidewalks and bike lanes in each direction.
Update: A lane on FM 1103 between Green Valley Road and Wagon Wheel Way will be closed from Jan. 19-23 as crews build a future detour for Phase 3 of the project. Drivers should expect delays during peak travel times and are encouraged to use alternate routes.

Cibolo FY25 Street Rehabilitation Package II
Project: The reconstruction of Firebird Run, Silver Wing and Town Creek Road. This is the second set of roads funded for reconstruction under the 2025 general obligation bonds. The first phase included construction on Deer Creek Boulevard and Green Valley Road.
Update: Work on Silver Wing is substantially completed, and work on Town Creek Road is expected to wrap up in February. The construction on Firebird Run began Jan. 8 and is expected to be completed in the spring.
