Two radar feedback signs are being placed on Dietz Elkhorn Road following a study presented to Fair Oaks Ranch City Council on May 1.
What’s happening
Data presented showed the traffic speeds were higher on the Eastern end of Dietz Elkhorn Road when compared to average speeds tracked by signs on the Western end of the road. However, when comparing the 85th percentile of speeds, all sign locations reflected speeds at least five miles per hour over the set speed limit of 35 mph.
During the meeting, President of the Transportation Safety Advisory Committee Al Schmidt said the initial request for the radar feedback signs was targeted towards the Western end of the roadway, coming from I-10. Direction from the City Council places the signs on the Eastern end of the roadway, closer to Fair Oaks Parkway.
