The FM 1518 improvement project is scheduled to begin April 9 and be complete in spring 2028, according to city of Schertz staff.
The details
The project is planned to widen FM 1518 from FM 78 to I-10. The plan is to add a new lane in each direction, making the road a four-lane road following completion.
Alongside lane expansions, the road will have a raised median, bike lanes and sidewalks, according to information from TxDOT.
According to TxDOT, the project will cost around $73 million, and the project was awarded to SER Construction Partners, LLC.
Signage and digital message boards will be placed in the area to notify the public of the upcoming construction. During construction, motorists are encouraged to use an alternative route, if possible.
