The city of Selma on June 24 announced the reopening of Evans Road to thru traffic.
The Evans Road Reconstruction Project began in early 2021 with the goal of widening Evans from the I-35 frontage road to the Selma city limits.
According to city officials, the project helps improve the capacity and safety of Evans by reconstructing vehicle lanes and installing new bike lanes, sidewalks and roadside parking.
This project furthers the enhancements that began with the Lookout Road Reconstruction Project in 2019, repairing almost 7,000 linear feet of road surface and adding more than 4,000 linear feet of 5-foot-wide concrete sidewalks.
