Closure of I-10/Loop 1604 interchange set for April 26-29

Contractors overseeing the Loop 1604 expansion initiative in North San Antonio will close several parts of the Loop 1604/I-10 interchange over the final weekend of April.

Current situation

According to a Texas Department of Transportation news release, the following portions of roadway will be completely closed from 9 p.m. April 26-5 a.m. April 29:

• All four cloverleaf ramps at the Loop 1604/I-10 interchange
• Loop 1604 westbound and eastbound main lanes and frontage roads at the I-10 interchange
• Loop 1604 westbound and eastbound collector-distributor roads
• I-10 westbound frontage road at the Loop 1604 interchange
• I-10 left lane at the Loop 1604 interchange

TxDOT representatives said these closures will allow project contractors to continue bridge construction and replace bridge bent caps, which help disperse pressure to piles below the bridge supports.

TxDOT officials encouraged motorists to allow time to take detours and navigate busy side streets immediately surrounding the I-10/Loop 1604 interchange during the weekend closures.
