City of San Antonio to widen Gardendale Road, add sidewalks

San Antonio city officials will widen Gardendale Road from Wurzbach Road to Bluemel Road into a 60-foot roadway.

The details

According to city documents, the project will widen approximately 0.4 miles of Gardendale Road into a two-lane roadway with a center turn lane. Currently in the design phase, construction is slated to be completed summer 2026.

Improvements include:

• Two 11-foot lanes
• A 11-foot center turn lane
• A 5-foot sidewalk
• A 10-foot shared-use path
