City of San Antonio to widen Babcock Road, add sidewalks

San Antonio city officials are widening Babcock Road from West Hausman Road to UTSA Boulevard as part of its 2022-27 Bond Program.

The details

According to city documents, the project will widen approximately 0.4 miles of Babcock Road into a four-lane roadway with a center turn lane. Construction is slated to begin in winter 2025 and is estimated to be completed by winter 2027.

Improvements include:

• Adding sidewalks, curbs and driveway approaches
• Adding a mid-block pedestrian crossing
• Drainage improvements
