As part of its I-35 Northeast Expansion project, the Texas Department of Transportation announced a series of long-term closures on I-35.
What to expect
According to a Feb. 28 news release, drivers will encounter the following long-term closures on I-35 and nearby roads through the following dates.
Frontage road closures:
- March 29: The southbound-to-northbound turnaround at Thousand Oaks Drive will be closed for construction work.
- April 1: There will be alternating lane closures between Thousand Oaks Drive and Whirlwind Drive for roadway reconstruction and structural work.
- June 16: The left lane from Forum Parkway to Old Austin Road will be closed for bridge and roadway work.
- June 30: The left lane from McMorris Boulevard to Pat Booker Road will be closed for construction.
I-35 exit and entrance ramp closures:
- April 13: The exit ramp on northbound I-35 to Toepperwein Road will be closed for construction work.
- May 5: The exit ramp on northbound I-35 to Evans Road will be closed for construction work.
- May 22: The entrance ramp on southbound I-35 from O’Connor Road will be closed for bridge work.
I-410 closures:
- March 21: The left lane on the northbound I-35 frontage road to southbound I-410 frontage road will be closed for utilities work.
- April 1: The left lane on the westbound frontage road from Perrin Creek to Austin Highway (Loop 368) will be closed for construction.
- April 16: The entrance ramp on northbound I-410 frontage road between Binz Engleman and Rittiman Road will be closed for bridge work.
