What’s happening
According to the Texas Department of Transportation, full closures of I-35 are taking place through Saturday in both directions. The closures are due to the ongoing I-35 NEX Central project—a $1.5 billion road project creating three elevated lanes to provide direct corrections to Loop 410 North and Loop 1604 West.
The closures will take place at the following locations between the following times, according to TxDOT.
I-35 from FM 3009 to FM 1518
- Full closure of northbound I-35 frontage road and exit ramp from Forum Parkway to Olympia Parkway for cap work: 8 p.m.-6 a.m. through Thursday, Dec. 18; 8 p.m.-7 a.m. Friday, Dec. 19; 8 p.m.-8 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20
- Full closure of northbound I-35 frontage road and exit ramp from Forum Parkway to Olympia Parkway for bridge beam setting: 8 p.m.-5 p.m. through Thursday, Dec. 18
- Multiple mainline, exit ramp and entrance ramp closures at northbound I-35 from Evans Road to FM 3009 for pavement, roadway and drainage work: 9 p.m.-7 a.m. Friday, Dec. 19
- Multiple mainline, entrance ramp and exit ramp closures at southbound I-35 from FM 3009 to Schertz Parkway for slip barrier: 8 p.m.-6 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 18
- Full closure of southbound I-35 main lanes from FM 3009 to Schertz Parkway for bridge deck panels: 8 p.m.-6 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 18; 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19; 8 p.m.-8 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20
- Multiple main lane, entrance and exit ramp closures of southbound I-35 from FM 3009 to Schertz Parkway for slip barrier: 8 p.m.-7 a.m. Friday, Dec. 19 and 8 p.m.-8 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20
- Multiple lane closures of northbound I-35 main lanes, exit ramp and entrance ramp from Forum Parkway to Evans Road for bridge deck work: 8 p.m.-6 a.m. through Thursday, Dec. 18; 9 p.m.-7 a.m. Friday, Dec. 19; 9 p.m.-8 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20
- Full closure of northbound I-35 main lanes from Olympia Parkway exit ramp to Olympia Parkway entrance ramp for bridge beam setting: 8 p.m.-5 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 17
- Full closure of northbound I-35 frontage road from Forum Parkway to Forum Access Road for bridge structure work: 9 p.m.-7 a.m. Friday, Dec. 19
- Rolling closure of I-35 main lanes and frontage roads from Evans Road to Retama Parkway for utilities construction: 8 p.m.-9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15
- Full closure of southbound I-35 frontage road from Corporate Drive to Evans Road and Evans Road at I-35 intersection for bridge structure work: 8 p.m.-6 a.m. through Tuesday, Dec. 18; 8 p.m.-7 a.m. Friday, Dec. 19; 8 p.m.-8 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20
- Multiple main lane closures of southbound I-35 main lanes, entrance and exit ramp from Schertz Parkway to Forum Parkway for bridge deck pour, traffic shift and lane striping: 8 p.m.-6 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 18; 8 p.m.-7 a.m. Friday, Dec. 19; 8 p.m.-8 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20
- Full closure of southbound I-35 frontage road from Retama Parkway to Forum Parkway for moving barrier, paving and traffic shift: 9 p.m.-8 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20
