FM 1518 lane closures shift for two months
On Dec. 4, the lane closures for the FM 1518 reconstruction project shifted traffic to the east side of the road.
What you need to know
During the construction period, traffic will be shifted to allow workers to work on improvements over the next two months. Speed limits in the construction area are reduced to 45 mph, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.
The $73 million project will transform the existing roadway into a four-lane corridor with a raised median.
The project also includes the construction of a 10-foot-wide shared-use path along the east side of the road and a 6-foot-wide sidewalk on the west side of the road for pedestrian and bicycle access.
Moving forward
Construction is scheduled to be completed in four phases, with the first phase focusing on utility upgrades and intersection improvements at FM 1518 and FM 78.
The second phase includes the road construction between Lisa Meadows and I-10, and the widening of the bridge over Woman Hollering Creek.
Work between Lisa Meadows and Aztec Lane will be completed in the third phase, while the installation of the sidewalks, median and final pavement improvements are scheduled for the final phase. The entire project is expected to be completed in 2028.
Final phase of Lower Seguin Road project begins
The final phase of the Lower Seguin Reconstruction Project began Dec. 2.
What you need to know
During construction, the section of Lower Seguin Road between Haeckerville North and Haeckerville South will be closed to through traffic.
Detours will be available from Arizpe Road to Stolte Road to Bolton Road, and from Weir Road to Trainer Hale Road to I-10 Frontage Road to Santa Clara Road.
About the project
The Lower Seguin Road Reconstruction Project includes the reconstruction of the existing road pavement to create a new road surface.
This project is the final project of an interlocal agreement between the city of Cibolo and Guadalupe County. Bolton Road and Dean Road were also reconstructed under this agreement.
I-35 NEX holiday road closures announced
I-35 drivers will have a break from construction closures leading up to the holidays.
The details
The I-35 Northeast Expansion has been underway since 2022, working to expand approximately 20 miles of the roadway from North Walters Street to FM 1103.
Construction includes the addition of elevated lanes, alongside the expansion of ground-level lanes along parts of the road.
Throughout the construction timeline, ramps and lanes have been regularly closed to allow daytime and nighttime work.
For the Christmas and New Year holidays, construction will be paused on the main lanes. Construction will continue behind barriers off the main lanes. Days with no lane closures are as follows:
- Noon on Dec. 23 through 10 p.m. on Dec. 26
- Noon on Dec. 31 through 5 a.m. on Jan. 2
- No construction at all on Dec. 25 or Jan. 1
According to information from TxDOT, October was a landmark month for the I-35 NEX project, as a total of 169 precast concrete bridge beams were installed, representing 4 1/4 of linear bridge beams installed.
Alongside the installation of bridge beams, 35 bridge spans were constructed accounting for nearly a mile of bridge structures.
While work is moving forward on the I-35 NEX project, the construction has an expected completion date of 2027 for the central portion of the project.
