Engineering services have been approved for the final set of roads under the city of Live Oak 2022 Capital Improvement Bond.

Live Oak City Council on Nov. 12 authorized the city manager to enter a contract with 6S Engineering, Inc. for the remaining 13 roads to be under construction.

About the project

The 2022 bond supported $18 million in funding for 16 potential roads.

The following roads up for construction were listed in the agenda documents for the engineering services:
  • Crest Harvest
  • Riverwood Street
  • Wayman Ridge
  • Danae Drive
  • Ashby Point
  • Wood Terrace
  • Walkers Loop
  • Carlyle Springs
  • Forrest Dawn
  • Northledge Drive
  • Toppling Lane
  • Forest Summit
  • Baywave
Most of the listed roads will be rehabilitated throughout sections of the road. Crest Harvest, Riverwood Street, Wayman Ridge and Walkers Loop were listed as reconstruction projects, meaning the construction on those roads will include concrete work to support deteriorating infrastructure, Jess Swaim with 6S Engineering, Inc. said.

“It is a deeper mill on the roads to take out the existing material and come back in with some good, select flexbase and then concrete the streets,” he said.

According to agenda documents, the cost of engineering services is to not exceed $427,656.

Moving forward

Following engineering services, the projects will go out for construction bids, which is expected to be done in early 2025. Public Works Director Mark Wagster said the goal is to have the projects completed by the summer.
