The Texas Department of Transportation announced upcoming traffic changes near I-10 and Loop 1604.

According to TxDOT officials, beginning in June, the I-10 westbound exit ramp to FM 1516 will be closed.

This closure coincides with a shift of the westbound I-10 main lane traffic onto the new paving as well as the widening of westbound main lanes and construction of a bridge spanning Loop 1604. The project is estimated to be complete in the summer of 2023.

Beginning June 17, Loop 1604 under I-10 is scheduled to close so crews can remove the old westbound I-10 bridge spanning Loop 1604.

According to TxDOT officials, the closure will begin on the evening of June 17 and continue through the early morning of June 20.

During this time, northbound Loop 1604 traffic will detour to the I-10 eastbound frontage road, turn around at Pfeil Road and take the I-10 eastbound frontage road back to Loop 1604. Traffic going southbound on Loop 1604 will be detoured to the I-10 westbound frontage road, turn around at FM 1516 and take the I-10 eastbound frontage road back to Loop 1604.
