Methodist Hospital Northeast has opened the Methodist Diabetic Foot and Ankle Institute at its Northeast Pavilion.

On Aug. 1, the hospital hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony opening the clinic, which works to prevent limb amputations of those with diabetes, staff said.

In a nutshell

The institute is an extension of an existing program at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio and is operated by Thomas Zgonis who was present at the ceremony.

The original institute opened three years prior on Aug. 1, 2022. The Northeast San Antonio location will offer the most up to date treatment options on wound healing and amputation prevention, Zgonis said.
