What happened
In November, two solar-powered benches were installed at the pond, located at 824 Everyday Way.
The benches are part of a Cibolo Partnered Trailways Project that aims to add amenities to the H-E-B trail and pond, according to Cibolo City Council agenda documents.
Along with the benches, the project added an aeration fountain system to the pond. According to agenda documents, the system will preserve the health of the fishing pond.
Cost details
The total project cost was $114,000, with $94,000 coming from a portion of 2024 bond funding for park improvements and $20,000 provided by a grant from the Guadalupe Valley Electric Cooperative, or GVEC, according to agenda documents.
Both the benches and the power system are powered by GVEC. Power installation at the pond was approved by Cibolo council July 22 for $51,135. Installation was funded through parks funds allocated in the city’s fiscal year 2024-25 Capital Improvement Program, according to agenda documents.
