Brown was elected to the Place 7 council position in 2018 and served as president of the Schertz Economic Development Corporation from 2011 to 2018, according to the news release. Brown retired as a chief master sergeant in the United States Air Force, serving a total of 28 years as a special operations combat controller.
Both city staff members and other area officials offered their condolences to Brown's friends and family.
Krystal Hayne, Schertz's public affairs director, said Brown was an authentic and compassionate man who cared for the well-being of others.
"Councilmember Brown will be remembered for his strong sense of service, leadership, and commitment to his community and country," Haynes said in the release.
Maggie Titterington, The Chamber (Schertz-Cibolo-Selma Area) president, said both Brown and his late wife, Nancy, supported initiatives like the RE/MAX Skylight Balloon Fest.
"Through his seat on the council, partnership with the chamber and his advocacy on behalf of local businesses, Tim consistently championed policies that fostered a strong, business-friendly environment in Schertz," Titterington said.
