The channel has been in the works for five years and features local content from artists, businesses and filmmakers, according to a news release.
City Manager Kim Turner said the network-affiliated stations in San Antonio cannot name every street effected in Universal City during a weather or traffic emergency, but they will.
“If there’s an incident like the ice storm years ago, or the recent rare snow we had in January, we can segue into live coverage not only for Universal City, but our surrounding communities that don’t have operating [cable] channels yet," Turner said in the release.
