Live Oak City Council on June 11 approved the deannexation of two tracts of land totaling 0.030 acres for Northeast Lakeview College to enter an agreement with VIA.

The overview

In April, City Council approved a memorandum of understanding with Northeast Lakeview College supporting the inclusion of VIA Link services on the campus.

The deannexation allows the service to have two drop-off locations on the campus with one at Paluxy Hall and the other at Kruse Circle.

This service will be free for students and staff, according to the initial presentation on April 30.

VIA Link is a van service that serves four regions around San Antonio, with Northeast Lakeview College falling near two of the service areas.

Live Oak City Council on June 11 unanimously approved the deannexation of the tracts of land.

What’s next?

NLC Director of Strategic Initiatives Rudy Farias said, with City Council approval, the agenda item will go before the VIA board of trustees on June 25.

Following the approval from the VIA board, VIA Link services would be available on the Northeast Lakeview campus beginning Aug. 19. Students will return to campus on Aug. 26.
