A new commissioner has been elected for Precinct 3 in Guadalupe County.
With all precincts reporting, Jim Wolverton received 2,309 votes, or 61.23% of ballots cast. His opponent—Allison Heyward—received 1,466 votes, or 38.77% of votes, according to unofficial voting results from Guadalupe County.
Wolverton told Community Impact his priorities are keeping taxes low, making sure county employees have a livable wage and keeping infrastructure in check with a growing population.

Guadalupe County has released the early-voting totals for the Republican primary for Precinct 3 County Commissioner.
What you need to know
Republican candidates Jim Wolverton and Allison Heyward are vying for the Guadalupe County Precinct 3 seat in the March 3 primary elections.
According to unofficial early voting results, Wolverton leads with 1,636 votes, or 63.5% of the vote. Heyward has received 942 votes, or 36.5% of the vote.
Precinct 3 covers a southwestern portion of Guadalupe County near Schertz, according to the county's website.
Since there are no Democratic candidates running for this position, the winner of the Republican primary will be uncontested during the November general elections, according to the Guadalupe County voting charter.

In early voting, there were 2,578 ballots cast countywide for the Guadalupe County commissioner Precinct 3 race.
Totals from ballots cast March 3 have yet to be released. Polls closed at 7 p.m., although voters who were in line at 7 p.m. were still able to cast ballots.
