Election day has arrived in Schertz once again, this time for a special election for the Place 7 council seat.

What’s on the ballot

On Dec. 20, voters in Guadalupe, Bexar and Comal counties will decide the newest council member, taking over the seat left by Tim Brown, who died Oct. 19.

The Schertz Annex at 1101 Elbel Road is the lone election day voting location for all three counties. Polls are open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.

Candidates on the ballot are John Carbon, Dan Swart, Tony Diaz, Robert Sheridan III and Kristy Barger.

Carbon was on the ballot for the Place 2 position in the Nov. 4 election and received 1,882 votes, or 34.75% of the vote, against Michelle Watson’s 3,534 votes, or 65.25% of the vote.

Swart most recently served as a trustee at Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD, while Sheridan previously served on the city’s parks and recreation board.

The Place 7 term will expire in November 2027, according to the city's website.
