The March 3, 2026, primary election is taking shape in Guadalupe County.

What’s on the ballot

As of the Dec. 8 filing deadline for the March 3 primary, candidates are on the ballot for the following positions:
  • Guadalupe County judge
  • Precinct commissioners
  • County Court at Law judge
According to the Texas Secretary of State website, no Democratic, Independent or Green Party candidates filed for primaries.

Digging deeper


For the county judge election, former Precinct 3 Commissioner Michael Carpenter was the lone Republican candidate to file for the position.

Candidates who filed in the Republican primary for Precinct 2 Commissioner were:
  • Ronnie Clark
  • Noah Webster
  • Incumbent Drew Engelke
Individuals who filed for Precinct 3 Commissioner were Allison Heyward and Jim Wolverton, according to the Texas Secretary of State website.

County Judge Kyle Kutscher appointed Jim Wolverton as interim Precinct 3 Commissioner until the results of the 2026 general election. Carpenter stepped down from the role to pursue the Judge position, as previously reported by Community Impact.

Running for Precinct 4 Commissioner as Republicans are:
  • Incumbent Stephen Germann
  • Former Cibolo Mayor Mark Allen
  • Outgoing Cibolo Place 7 council member Joel Hicks
In the primary election for County Court at Law No. 1, John Green and incumbent William “Bill” Squires III have filed as Republicans.


Incumbent Kirsten Legore was the lone filer for the County Court at Law No. 2 position.

Dates to know

The first day for voters to submit an application for a ballot by mail for the March 3 election is Jan. 1, according to the Texas Secretary of State website. The last day for voter registration is Feb. 2, with early voting beginning Feb. 17.
