Information technology professional Margaret Carlin has won a two-way race for a Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD board post Nov. 7, unofficial voting results show.
What happened
According to unofficial early voting and Election Day results from Bexar and Guadalupe counties, Carlin tallied 55.7% of the vote, beating Alberto Ramirez, a U.S. Air Force retiree and current real estate agent, for Place 2 in SCUCISD’s lone contested election.
Carlin will succeed 12-year incumbent trustee Robert Westbrook, who declined a re-election bid to run for a Schertz City Council seat.

Issuing a statement to Community Impact, Carlin said she felt God instilled in her a passion for education and a desire to serve the public.
“For so many of you who have helped me, I couldn’t have done this without you. I am humbled to have earned your support, votes and confidence. Thank you from the bottom of my heart,” Carlin said. “I look forward to serving the SCUCISD community, and I welcome the opportunity to collaborate with current school board trustees.”

What happened
According to results from Bexar and Guadalupe counties, Carlin tallied 57.2% of the early vote, outpacing U.S. Air Force retiree and current real estate agent Alberto Ramirez for Place 2 in SCUCISD’s lone contested election.
The winner will succeed 12-year incumbent trustee Robert Westbrook, who declined a re-election bid to run for a Schertz City Council seat.
Digging deeper
Gerald Perkins, Place 1 representative and board president, drew no opposition in filing for a third four-year term.
Letticia Sever, Place 3 representative and assistant board secretary, had no challenger in filing for a second full term.
