Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City Independent School District has named an interim principal for the 2025-26 school year at Samuel Clemens High School.

Michael Gonzales was selected for the interim principal role on July 21, according to a news release. The appointment was made by Superintendent Paige Meloni with no board of trustees action required, Deanna Jackson, SCUCISD's executive director of communications and community engagement, said in an email to Community Impact.

Gonzales served in several campus leadership roles—most recently as the lead assistant principal at Byron P. Steele II High School and as an assistant principal at Veterans Memorial High School—the release states.

Gonzales said said he was proud to serve a community that his family calls home.

“Clemens has a rich tradition and strong spirit—I can’t wait to help carry that forward," Gonzales said in the release.
